The NYC metro and Long Island are home to a high concentration of all-star gyms and dance studios — Long Island in particular has one of the most competitive all-star communities on the East Coast. Long Island
One of the most competitive all-star markets on the East Coast. Dense gym concentration across Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
NYC Metro
NYC and the immediate suburbs have a mix of competitive all-star gyms, dance conservatories, and school programs across all five boroughs and Westchester.
Upstate New York
Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo all have school cheer programs and some all-star presence. School cheer is governed by NYSPHSAA.

NY CHEER SEASON AT A GLANCE
All-Star (Long Island & NYC Metro)
Long Island gyms are among the most competitive in the Northeast. Tryouts typically April–May, competitive season October–April. Many LI teams compete nationally — Worlds and Summit bids are common targets.
NYSPHSAA School Cheer
New York school cheer is governed by NYSPHSAA. Competitive cheerleading is recognized in many districts. Fall sideline and winter competitive seasons are both common across upstate and suburban programs.
